  Can I be hypnotized?
If you qualify as a good hypnosis subject. Dr. Plumb uses three tests to screen new patients:
• Neurotransmitter Preference
• Behavioral Style Profile
• Suggestibility Index

How does the Neurotransmitter Preference test work?
You will be asked fourteen questions developed by Dr. Joel Robertson to help determine the natural chemistry of your brain. You have sixty neurotransmitters (juice that your nerves squirt at each other for communication). There are four that indicate your genetically determined emotional style.

Arousal people like to increase dopamine and norepinephrine for physical and emotional energy. Satiation people like to increase gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) and serotonin for physical and emotional relaxation. So Arousal people use protein and stimulants (cocaine, caffeine, and nicotine) to increase arousal, and then switch when limits are reached. Satiation people use carbohydrates, fats, and relaxants (barbituates, marijuana, and tranquilizers) to increase relaxation, and then switch when limits are reached.

What does the Neurotransmitter Preference test show?
It will explain why you have had trouble changing your habits. You will understand why you have been self-medicating with nicotine or sugar, and why you have felt lazy or undermotivated. It also helps Dr. Plumb determine which course of treatment will be most effective for you.

How does the Behavioral Style Profile work?
You will be asked eighteen questions (published by Cathcart and Allesandra) to help to evaluate your world views and your decision-making style.

This short psychological profile places you in one of four categories:

• Director
• Socializer
• Relater
• Thinker

  What are Directors?
Directors tend to motivated by POWER. They often ask about the bottom line. They tend to be ambitious, decisive and goal-directed. Their problem is that they tend to be control freaks.

  What are Socializers?
Socializers strive for POPULARITY. They like people, and they love to talk, talk, talk. They often have a tendency to show off. They are good starters but poor finishers.

  What are Relaters?
Relaters live for PEACE. They are willing to compromise - even important personal territory - just to get along with others. They are amiable and friendly, but some people see them as lazy.

  What are Thinkers?
Thinkers need PERFECTION. They keep looking for the right time and right way to accomplish their goals. They analyze everything, so they are full of worry and self-criticism.

How does the Suggestibility Index work?
Dr. Plumb developed this test in 1982 to rate your skills in the areas of intuition, creative imagination, and motivation.

You simply answer each question with a number from 0 to 5 (5 being the strongest) to indicate how much you believe this or how often it happens. There are fifty questions, and you might find it fun to discover if you have what it takes to explore the world of hypnosis.

  How long does this take?
You should allow three hours for your first hypnotherapy session, including testing, training, and treatment. If you need more treatments, one-hour sessions are available.

Approximately one-third of patients get all the help they need from a single session. They walk out of Dr. Plumb's office dramatically changed - permanently.

  How much does this cost?
The first session has a fee of $225. However, if you fail to pass the test, there is no charge. Dr. Plumb is the only hypnotist in America that tests people for suitability with the Suggestibility Index. If you pass the test, you will be accepted as a patient and given hypnosis treatment immediately.

If you want to take additional treatments for the same issue or for a different problem, the fee is $75 for a one-hour session. If you find hypnotherapy to be helpful, you might want to continue using it to reshape your thinking and your life.
